Crowcombe Court is my nearest Wedding venue being a five minute drive from my studio. I’ve done many weddings here over recent years and know all the best spots for beautiful lit photographs. Charile and Will’s wedding was my most recent one and I am lucky enough to have several weddings booked for 2021!
It’s a beautiful Baroque 18th Century stately home that was privately owned by the Carew family until 1960’s.
The Court has been lovingly restored by Kate and David Kenyon and now new owners to it’s former glory. The Great hall makes for a Grand Entrance with fine examples of Italian plasterwork throughout & incredible marble floors. This is where a couple of my former brides and grooms have chosen to have their ceremony.
The ballroom is a riot of early Victorian style and colour. The classic marble fireplace is thought to have come from Stowe. This is where the Wedding breakfast is often served.
The dining room floor is painted with the arms of the Carew family and this is where the bride and groom and their family will have informal meals during the wedding weekend.
The Court also benefits from a Vaulted undercroft, historically housing the winter stores for Crowcombe Court’s inhabitants, and now an atmospheric hangout for dancing.
The house holds a number of significant items of furniture and works of art. The bedrooms are kitted out with beautiful four poster beds and en suite bathrooms combining historical opulence with mod cons.
The gardens, like the house, have been restored to their original magnificence : the woods have been thinned, the hydrangea beds have been restored and the lake is now a haven for wildlife.
There are so many beautiful backdrops here for Wedding photos, both in The Court and in the grounds that I am often spoiled for choice!
There is also a beautiful Church at the end of the drive where several of my former bride and grooms have been married. It’s close enough to walk form The Court to Church and back with the whole wedding party processing down the drive.
